In what many describe as an increasingly disturbing trend, Capcom has confirmed the existence of a downloadable ”versus” multiplayer mode for Resident Evil 5 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. For 400 ($5) Microsoft points and $4.99 for Xbox LIVE and PSN respectively you are granted access to two different game types. Survivor’s Rule, which is basically a free-for-all elimination game type, and Slayer’s Rule, a “point-based game that challenges players to kill Majinis.” Each game type supports one vs. one and two vs. two gameplay.
After backlash from fans, Capcom has come out to defend their decision to charge for the versus DLC. According to Capcom “Although Versus mode makes use of the assets that exist in the game, the functionality is not currently in the game and is above and beyond the initial scope of Resident Evil 5,” and that “We have never included a Versus mode in Resident Evil before, and as well as the costs of development of the feature, there’s also additional bandwidth costs associated with it,”
So there you have it ladies and gents, Resident Evil 5 versus multiplayer is here to stay and it expected to be on a console marketplace near you within a “few weeks” after the game’s release so be sure to keep an eye out.

Well, you know that once it does come out, people are going to buy it anyway and no one will be complaining.
But I do see why people are complaining since they just got the game to begin with.
Although it’s ridiculous to push this so soon after the game’s launch, at least it’s only five bucks.
Just another way to get another buck
Pay 60 bucks for the game, and then oh BTW if you want this its 5 bucks more..
Then again, I pay 40 to 50 bucks every time an expansion comes out for WoW.. Meh.. what can ya do..
Hey… How do you get this thing to run on my Commodore 64???
