Summer vacation is officially over.

Summer’s over, which means it’s time to get back to school and time for us to get back to work! We’ll be spinning up the sweet, sweet Mg content you know and love this week, as well as rolling out a couple neat new features for our dedicated fans. Rumor has it that we’ve got a new print product in the works as well, but you’ll have to wait and see what we’ve been cooking for yourself.

We’ve also got movies coming up, hopefully more than we saw during the recession-laden summer months. Keep your eyes peeled for details, which we’ll post as soon as we get them.

Scheduled Maintenance tonight, March 31st

Hey everybody! I just wanted to drop our readers a quick note regarding our scheduled maintenance tonight. We’ve been digging through the feedback you’ve left, and will be implementing a few site-side changes that should make navigation and credit redemption easier.

We’re also going to be dropping the ‘beta’ tag tonight, as Metrglow will be going live to the general public tonight after our maintenance window. Expect more daily content, including guides to your favorite restaurants, night spots and entertainment venues. We look forward to working with our readers to continue to raise the bar for entertainment guides in the OKC metro. With your help, we’ll show those other entertainment guides who’s boss!

Speaking of your help, if you’re interested in contributing your local wisdom, drop by the employment page and fill out the form. We’re always looking to add writers to our stellar team; why shouldn’t it be you?

The Metroglow Store is now open!

With the approaching April 1st launch of Metroglow, we figured we would go ahead and get the kinks worked out of the Metroglow store this week. The store (you can find the link in the navigation bar above) let’s our faithful readers redeem Mg credits for a bevy of cool prizes, and we’ve got more cool prizes than we know what to do with!

To kick things off, we’ve got three copies of Activision’s Quantum of Solace for the PlayStation 3, as well as a bundle of tickets to next week’s screening of Adventureland in OKC. Our regular readers should find the new store a cinch, but feel free to check out the help section if you want us to hold your hand. We don’t mind, honest.

Welcome to Metroglow!

Hey there! Welcome to Metroglow Magazine, Oklahoma’s #1 independent entertainment magazine. Mg was launched on March 1st of 2009 as an entertainment resource for the local community. We appreciate your readership, and look forward to meeting you all in the near future.

Metroglow is brought to you by the same great people that created PTD Magazine and PTD Film, and I want to take a minute and point out some of the features we’ve ‘exported’ into our new online format.

First off, if you’ve been redirected here from PTD Magazine or PTD Film, don’t worry! We’re still covering videogames and film on Metroglow, and we’ll be converting your PTD Credits into Metroglow Credits in the next few days. Aside from being able to redeem your credits for movie tickets, you’ll also be able to redeem them for a variety of other cool prizes too.

If you’re new to Mg, let me take a minute to thank you for your time. The Mg community is driven by your participation, and we’re Oklahoma City’s only online destination that hooks it’s readers up with prizes and swag for participating. We’ll be in ‘beta’ for the month of March, and look forward to your feedback.

We’ll be updating this site with daily entertainment content, and are currently looking for a slew of contributors that would be interested in participating in Metroglow. If you see an empty category that you’d like to write for, swing by our employment page to read up on the details of our revenue sharing program and apply. Metroglow is OKC’s only community-driven entertainment site, so why not pitch in and help us make a little (local) history?
